Bach’s Birthday Concert
Organ and Clavichord:
Companions for Centuries
The clavichord was the most popular keyboard instrument of the Baroque era, prized for its delicacy and expressive range. The distinguished Bangor keyboard virtuoso Kevin Birch explores the intimate colors of three exquisite copies of clavichords from the mid-17th through late 18th centuries, along with St Francis’ magnificent Karl Wilhelm tracker organ, preceded by a discussion and demonstration of their mechanisms and importance to Bach and his contemporaries
