In 2011, Marcia Gronewold Sly established Blue Hill Bach with a vision to bring exceptional baroque music to our community—a commitment she has fulfilled over 15 remarkable seasons. An acclaimed vocalist, Marcia has performed with American Bach Soloists, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, San Francisco Opera, Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and the Kronos Quartet, collaborating with renowned conductors including Kent Nagano, Nicholas McGegan, Joanne Falletta, and William McGlaughlin. She holds degrees from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, San Francisco State University, and Mills College. Beyond the stage, Marcia has served as a writer and arts administrator for organizations such as San Francisco Opera, the Ellsworth American, and Northeast Historic Film, and has taught voice at University of Maine, Orono, and San Francisco Community Music Center.
